As one of the nation’s premier voluntary health agencies, the American Lung Association recognizes the importance of volunteerism in ensuring high quality services, efficient program management, diversity, and responsiveness to community needs. Volunteers have played a vital role at the Lung Association since we began our fight against lung disease in 1904. We currently count hundreds of thousands of dedicated individuals in our nationwide volunteer corps.

Through their interactions with family, friends, co-workers, and other members of the community, volunteers provide increased public awareness and education of the work that we do.
